HISTORY OF LAVENDER
Lavender has been documented for 3,000 years. In fact, when they opened King Tutankhamen’s tomb, in Egypt, in 1300 BC, the jars they opened still smelt strongly of lavender.
In 1597 Braunschweig published his famous book on essential oils, and detailed the healing effects of lavender essential oil.
In 1910, Gattefosse burned his hand, and immediately applied neat lavender essential oil, only to find that no blistering or scarring followed. He invented the word ‘Aromatherapy’, and wrote extensively about his lavender oil research.
