Natural Remedies After Shingles (Postherpetic neuralgia)

While it is not our purpose to diagnose or treat, the following oils have been found to alleviate post shingles (Postherpetic neuralgia)  in a variety of ways.

To reduce the discomfort of nerve damage, from a shingles outbreak, from years ago, the following products have been found to help the leftover nerve damage that is itchy, and burning.

Some theorize that the itchiness and inflammation is still there, because the virus is latently present.

Some say the discomfort is due to nerve damage.

Either way, these natural remedies may help soothe and heal itchy and burning sensations.

1) Chamomile Butter – soothes and calms.
It also helps with itching and inflammation.
Apply as needed.

2) Tea Tree Essential Oil – is anti-viral, and may kill residual virus in the nerves.
Apply one drop daily, and spread with water.

3) Lavender Essential Oil – is anti-viral to a different spectrum of viruses, and may kill residual virus in the nerves.
It also helps with itching and inflammation.
Apply one drop daily, and spread with water.

4) Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil has been used to treat radiation burns successfully, both ingesting, and topically, suggesting regeneration of both nerves and skin.
It is also anti-viral.
Take 1 teaspoon morning and evening.

Apply topically, as needed.

5) Witch Hazel cool compress is soothing to itchiness and inflammation.
Soak cotton pads in Witch Hazel, then apply to itchy areas, while laying down, for 10 minutes.

6) Also, avoid anything containing sugar.

This is challenging, but well worth it.

There are so many healthy sugar substitutes to try.

Pick organic versions of:

erythritol

stevia

allulose

monk fruit

 

Avoid:

Saccharin (Sweet‘N Low)

Aspartame (NutraSweet)

Sucralose (Splenda)

 

Avoid:

honey
